jo_lasalleI am not a great gif maker, but for my own satisfaction, I tried to gif that little moment after Baby Shen Wei tells Kunlun that nobody has ever asked him why he does what he does. (Because I know Zhu Yi Long is the king of microexpressions, but this little bit always gets to me, I'm just saying.)

Gif set: Arrival in Dixing
Mar. 9th, 2019 06:03 pmnayeThe first time Zhao Yunlan visits Dixing, he sees visions in of his mother when going through the portal, and arrives terribly shaken. The way Shen Wei offers him support - saying his name, touching him gently, grounding him in where they are - absolutely gets me every time, as does that vulnerability we see in Yunlan.
I have a lot of feelings about this this interaction, and so - gifs. Crossposted here on my Tumblr.
ETA: Only after staring at it for most of the day have I realized that the moment Shen Wei touches Zhao Yunlan (second gif), he leans into that touch. Then before letting go, Shen Wei gently pushes Zhao Yunlan upright again in the last one. It's so subtle and so very lovely and Guardian is full of these little moments.♥

Guardian gif set: episode 36 fight scene

For (non-spoilery) context, Yunlan gets grabbed after kicking the guy in the red shoes over, and his assailant warns the rest of the SID to stay away. Zhao Yunlan just. Really doesn't have the time to play hostage.

Gifset: The SID interrogates Prof Shen
Jan. 22nd, 2019 09:39 pmnayeThe scene in episode 4 where the SID are interrogating Shen Wei is fascinating. The way Shen Wei reacts to Zhu Hong and Chu Shuzhi first, and then Zhao Yunlan... from what I've gathered, this was the scene that made Chinese fandom sit up and go how does Zhu Yilong do that? and talk about microexpressions. And you can see why.
